BON VOYAGE!

At 2.30 in the morning (If you could even call that morning) I’ll be dragging myself out of bed and into a taxi to the airport.
I decided it was time for a summer getaway and so for the next two weeks I’ll be exploring Greece, Turkey and Italy!

I will try and share some of my travels with you over the next fortnight,
but you can keep up with my adventures on Instagram!

Thanks to some very special readers, I was lucky enough to be chosen as a finalist in the Pedestrian Blogster Awards for 2014!
I was so excited to receive the nomination and it’s all thanks to you! 🙂

MIDNIGHT MAURIE

IMG_1639

Todays outfit features this Maurie and Eve sequin jumper that I bought at Sydney Fashion Weekend back in May.

You know when you see a garment from across the room and you do that determined half run to grab it before anyone else? Well this amazing jumper had that effect on me. I love that the sequins are velvet on one side, creating this luscious, matte effect, and the slick and shiny reverse side catches any light, taking this cropped jumper from casual to glamorous.

I paired this with black jeans and some patent leather heels for a sophisticated night look that is comfortable and warm for this chilly winter.

WHAT I’M WEARING:

Jumper – Maurie and Eve

Jeans – Rollas

Shoes – Marco Gianni

RIDING IN THE 90’S

This week I was lucky enough to receive some pieces from Riders by Lee, the edgy, younger sibling of Lee Jeans.

Today is the day that their new 90’s inspired, ‘Avant Grunge’ collection hits stores and I am so excited to celebrate with them by bringing back styles from my favourite era of fashion!

The Winter ’14 collection celebrates the best of 90’s grunge with luscious, groupie inspired fur vests and coats, skinny denims in a gritty colour palette of biker blacks, stonewash greys and inky blue, and basics to compliment it all.

WHAT I’M WEARING:

Jeans – Riders by Lee, Bumster Vegas in Blizzard Wash $109.95
Vest – Riders by Lee, Groupie Vest in Arctic Fox $89.95
Tshirt – Nude Lucy $40
Shoes – Asos, Halfpenny heeled sandals $81
Clutch – StyleNanda $40

Now if you just have to have a piece (or 5) of the Riders by Lee Winter ’14 collection, it is now available from Myer, Just Jeans and online at the Iconic and Surf Stitch. Garments range from just $39.95 for basics and up to $119.95 for jeans and jackets. I know for sure that my groupie vest will be keeping me warm all winter, so get with it and come back to the 90’s with me!

For my last post of 2013, I bring you this cute outfit featuring this TOPSHOP skort.

I feel like this piece is super versitile and can be dressed up or down to suit the weather wherever you may be this holiday season! I almost wish I was enjoying a white Christmas with some of you over in the UK, so I could tuck a fluffy white jumper into the front of the skort and top it off with some little heeled boots. But since it’s 30 degrees over here in Sydney, I’ll do my best to adapt it for summer.

WEARING
Skort – TOPSHOP
Shoes – Windsor Smith
Tank – TOPSHOP
Sunglasses – Zero UV

I hope you all had a very merry Christmas, and I wish you a Happy New Year!

See you next year!

BASICALLY…

IMG_0798

I am one of those people who absolutely NEVER dress weather appropriately. Even when I know that its too chilly to not wear a coat, nine times out of ten I will decide to leave my coat behind. Even when its way too hot for sleeves, you’ll find me tucking a cute jumper into into some shorts. I tend to dress for the mood I am in that day rather than what would keep my body at the ideal temperature. I seem to have this ‘I’ll be fine’ mentality which usually results in me freezing or overheating. I just never learn!

Todays outfit was one that I donned on my weekend trip to Melbourne. Clearly I wasn’t feeling particularly colourful that day, so I left the colour palette quite grey-scale, with the only pop coming from my nails and lipstick.

WHAT I’M WEARING:

Jeans: American Apparel
Top: Zeitgeist
Coat: Minty Meets Munt
Boots: Topshop
Sunglasses: Bondi Markets
Lipstick: INOXA in ‘Tangerine’

This was the first time I wore this coat all Winter, and it was actually Spring!
I’m sure I’ll learn my lesson when I move to London though. I’m certain I’ll be needing a lot more than this little grey coat.
Look out for the walking sleeping bag, because that will be me.

Until next time!

TOP FIVE: Perfumes

From left to right

Sweetheart by Ghost

This is my go-to, everyday perfume and probably my ‘signature scent.’ The smell is so fresh and lovable as it’s not too overpowering, even though it carries strong hints of vanilla.  I adore the tall, semi-matte bottle, it’s so simple and easy to carry in your handbag.

Beautiful Love by Estee Lauder

I find this perfume to be lovely and sweet, it smells like magnolia and jasmine with a strong base note that lingers on your skin and clothes. This one is good for all day wear since the smell won’t fade for hours, especially if you spray just a little bit in your hair. In terms of packaging it is quite simplistic, but also very large, so good value for money! I would wear this during Spring/Autumn.

Daisy by Marc Jacobs

Daisy is a gorgeous, floral perfume with a sweet undertone. The packaging is so cute and girly which reflects the scent of the perfume. Daisy is my go-to perfume for when I go out on the town with my friends.

Burberry Brit Eau De Toilette by Burberry

Burberry Brit is a luxurious smelling perfume with hints of vanilla, white peony and almond. It’s quite a seductive perfume in the sense that it smells delicious and lingers on the skin for hours. The packaging is simplistic and very classy. I would typically wear this perfume out to lunch or dinner.

Flowerbomb by Viktor and Rolf

Flowerbomb is a full-bodied, floral explosion with a slightly musky undertone and it smells absolutely amazing! It’s quite a strong perfume which for me is a good thing since I feel like perfume doesn’t always last on my skin for that long. I also love how the bottle looks like a little grenade made feminine. I would typically wear this perfume to an outdoor event or special occasion.

I always love looking into new perfumes and since Christmas is coming, I would love to hear any recommendations!

With love, Kate xx

AUGUST WISHLIST

This August I have put together a little wishlist of cute accessories and items that I am desperate to own! With summer coming up I tried to keep in mind warm summer nights and hot summer days whilst still being able to pair some of these items with a jumper or jeans over in London. I have noticed that I tend to spend a lot of time searching for new clothes but I hardly ever spend time or money on accessories, however lately I am loving purchasing bags, clutches, jewellery and sunglasses and it makes such a difference in turning a good outfit into a great one.
